“Gap Between Two Worlds ” is an oil painting that merges nature with mental state -referencing the Bleu Rider School and Franz Marc. These small paintings are images that set out to resolve figuration vs abstraction issues as well as to convey a state of being. I love the San Fransicsco Bay area painters, like David Park, Elmer Bischoff, and Diebenkorn. You can see some of their work in the book,”San Fransisco Bay Area Figurative Art.
This is a small, jewel like painting that lights up the room. It is abstract yet figurative. It has a small sailboat racing toward a distant shore. One of my favorite paintings, it conjures up a warm summer afternoon.
